GREYWOODS ALLIE KATZ $70.00
(Wilkinson 05) Dip. Sev. 35” EM-M 5”
Whereas NAVAJO PRINCESS can be tender here, this wonderful hem is unbothered by our winter thaws. A round, rolled back dusty claret is inhanced by a huge triangular plum red eye, that bleeds into a yellow center with a good green throat. Very fertile with strong scapes, ALLIE KATZ brings an unusual combination of parents into the dip gene pool. I’m using this to also further unusual eyes in the spiders. 18+ buds. [Sdlg (KARENS CURLS X CAT DANCER) X NAVAJO PRINCESS]
*GREYWOODS GOODNIGHT IRENE $75.00
(Wilkinson 05) Sev. 28” M-LM 6”
I’ve named this beautiful daylily in honor of Irene Melin, who passed away this November. Both she and Al were long time members of NEDS, and were my mentors in my early hybridizing years. She will be dearly missed. At over 6”, this voluptuous bloom is a flat coral mulberry rose with a deep peach-gold halo, edged rose and matching bubbled gold ruffles. 3 top branches with 19-25 buds. Sinfully fertile and lovely foliage. (SPACECOAST STARBURST X GREYWOODS PAINTED PONY).

*GREYWOODS SUNNY SMILES $48.00 clp
(Wilkinson 05) Dor. 40” EM-LM 7”+
Like some people, certain daylilies just bring a smile to your lips during the 6 AM coffee walk – and SUNNY SMILES is just such a plant. This landscaper is a bright clean lemon yellow STAR, with a heavy green radiating center, moderate ruffles and twisted sepals. Even the buds and the backs of the petals are saturated green. Long blooming and a valuable hem to use to incorporate green into the dormant spiders. 25-32 buds, 3 to 4 low branches and very pollen fertile. A few pods. [(GREYWOODS LOFTY LIZZIE X (SDLG 94-107 X TECHNY PEACH LACE)]

*GREYWOODS TALLYHO $65.00
(Wilkinson 05) Dor. 38” M-L 8.5” - 9.5”
And “away we go”, into a new color direction for the tet. Spiders. Almost a variant, this spidery looking bloom is a light pumpkin with a large triangular mauve violet eye and matching ruffled trim. Blooming into August here in MA., this is the plant to use for spider borders and that special color. 24+ buds, moderately fertile and very commanding in the garden. The word TallyHo is derived from the Norman “ty a hillout”, and is the cheer from the hunt field when a pursued fox is viewed. (GREYWOODS PONYTAIL CLASSIC (Includes: Wedding Band & Moonlit Masquerade) X GREYWOODS LOFTY LIZZIE)

COMMEMORATION (Turner 2005)

4”, 29”, dormant, EM, Lt fragrance, diploid. Having experienced September eleven from five blocks away, I have ever since searched for a daylily to singularly memorialize the loss of lives then and in all unexpected tragedies, large and small. COMMEMORATION’s unusual quiet beauty and four-way, twin-tower branching is further represented in its dusky rose-lavender petals, pale plum sepals and lightly grayed-rose margins on both petals and sepals. A casually ruffled, cold-hardy bicolor, the loveliness of COMMEMORATION’s plum eye, echoing plum outer-band pencil eye, plum petal-veining and vivid green throat are anticipated in sixteen handsome buds colored on the top 2/3rds in striking mauve and on the bottom in clear medium green. Fertile both ways. [(Morrie Otte x U) X Seedling] Extremely limited. Single fan orders only. Free (only from hybridizer) except for $20 to cover digging, handling, domestic only shipping and record keeping costs. Subsequent pricing to reflect after-market conditions.

INCA TRUMPETER (Turner 2005)

4 ”, 55”, dormant, E, fragrant, diploid. A tall light-yellow self with somewhat paler midribs, INCA TRUMPETER is ideal for back-of-the-border, corner-of-the-barn, driveway-lantern placement. INCA TRUMPETER’s clear yellow trumpets herald the summer day with a clarion call to come enjoy the pleasures of the garden as well as its own four-way branching, nineteen buds, lightly ruffled petals, and storm-defiant, pencil-thin scapes. Cold-hardy and fertile both ways. [SUMMER MINARET (Toy Trumpets x Autumn Minaret) X Seedling (Purely x U)]. Limited. $30 single fan. [No S&H charge if ordered with Commemoration.]
